Lonely Planet is seeking a highly motivated and inventive Ad Tech Developer to join our growing product development team in New York. In this critical role you will serve as the company’s technical leader supporting ad sales. This role’s primary clients will be advertising operations and marketing teams and will support them throughout the entire life cycle of ad products including requirements gathering, vendor selection, tools assessment, and product implementation and optimization.

You will be working closely with our Commercial and Site Product teams to identify new revenue opportunities and maximize the value for our existing ad inventory and technology stack. You should have experience working with an ad technology stack supporting both native and programmatic campaigns. You will be the expert on display and video advertising, including the systems, tools, and platforms used by the Ad Operations team. This will also include other tools and technology used in the delivery, management and reporting of advertising for our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with ad operations, commercial product, and sales to understand and gather technical requirements for ad products.
  • Actively participate in reviewing and selecting ad technology partners.
  • Work with development and digital product teams to educate, advocate and implement ad tech.
  • Own the successful and timely deployment of ad technologies via tag management or front end solutions.
  • Diagnose ad serving issues and interface with our teams/partners to resolve.
  • Own ad tech specification documentation.
  • Technologies overseen include ad serving for display, mobile, video and native, data management platform, header bidding, syndicated research tools.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 Years of front end advertising tech experience.
  • Create and document advertising technology related implementation requirements, specifications, product guidelines, and product templates for both in-house and client stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assessment, analysis and evaluation of new ad products, custom ad units, and partners in addition to leading the implementation of such products.
  • Manage the escalation path between ad operations, product development, and third-party vendors to resolve ad product performance issues.
  • Prior experience implementing and managing DFP GPT ad tags is a must.
  • Experience with modern project management tools and processes.
  • Working knowledge of programmatic ecosystem and technology, particularly header bidding, passbacks, and all things ad tags.
  • Understanding of how to implement and troubleshoot advertising focused SDKs in mobile applications.
  • Solid knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js, and CMS technologies.
  • Understanding and proficiency of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, jQuery).
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with a tag management solutions.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Nativo, Lotame, Criteo, and Comscore.
  • Established relationships within the advertising technology community.
  • Eye for revenue opportunities and growth.
  • Experience with viewability and ad blocking technologies.
  • Knowledge of video technologies including but not limited to VAST, VPAID, VMAP, HTML5, and Flash.
  • A degree in computer science or related field is desired.
